How a Scrappy New York Studio Became a Major Platform for Filmmakers of Color

In a sit down interview with IndieWire, Jenifer Westphal divulged all things Wavelength — the start, the past & upcoming projects, and, above all, Wavelength’s mission. As Jen illustrates, not only is their purpose to tell great f**king stories, but Wavelength does everything in their power to prioritize the work of marginalized, first-time filmmakers.

“I couldn’t be more proud of the artists Wavelength is working with, because they’re all fantastic, and just so inspiring,” says Jen. “They’re so hungry to be storytellers, to be in the industry, and just need somebody to give them a chance and take a risk — although I hate that word, because it shouldn’t be a risk to support a young woman of color who’s got a great story to tell. But that’s where Wavelength comes in.”
